GPWM links NTM to WM
After an immaculate Installation ceremony at St Michael's Lodge 1630, during which W Bro Dr James Prichard installed the new Master, W Bro Dr Peter Whidborne, in a most sincere and meaningful manner, a magnificent five course banquet was enjoyed by all present. The Lodge numbers several members of the medical profession and banter at the festive board between it's various disciplines was highly humorous and apposite.
The meeting was presided over by Assistant Provincial Grand Master W Bro Michael C Morris, and responding to the visitors' toast a special presentation was made by W Bro NT Malden, the new Master being his first cousin once removed, and godson. "NTM" was delighted to hand on a pair of cufflinks which had belonged to his grandfather, W Bro W Malden (hence the "WM" engraved upon them), who was Master of Alma Mater Lodge 1492 in 1913 and a Provincial Deacon in Cambridgeshire the following year.
According to W Malden's death notice in the Cambridge paper of 1918 he, like the new WM, was a doctor, a GP, and also did research at Addenbroke's Hospital. He was 60 years and two months old when he died. NTM was 60 years and four months old when he was initiated.
To round off a most enjoyable and entertaining evening the lodge presented two cheques, £500 each, to the Warwickshire Masonic Benevolent Fund and The Masonic Samaritan Fund.
