Provincial Grand Lodge of Warwickshire

On Saturday 1st April a delegation of eight brethren from Lodge of Fort William No 43 (Scottish Constitution) visited St. Paul’s Lodge No 43 to witness Bro Chris Hopkins being raised to the Third Degree.

Our newly made Master Mason and visitors

The photograph shows the candidate Bro Chris Hopkins flanked by the Master of Lodge of Fort William, RWM Iain Rodger, and the Master of St. Paul’s Lodge, WBro Chris Gilbert.

The visit followed the tradition of visits to and from our twin lodges in Lyon and Frankfurt with our visitors being entertained socially over the weekend.

Friday evening was spent visiting various hostelries, with the Scotsmen enjoying English beer and teaching St. Paul’s Brethren to drink Scotch.

On Saturday morning, the visitors were taken on a tour of the sights of Birmingham.

Presentation to the WM

The Lodge meeting on Saturday evening was attended by 40 Brethren and during the festive board our Master was presented with a Quaich (see photograph) and a bottle of Malt Whisky to fill it.

The visitors enjoyed their visit so much, they have invited Brethren of St. Paul’s Lodge No. 43 to join them in the autumn of 2018 for their 275th Anniversary, when they hope that the Irish Lodge No. 43 will also join them.
