Chelsea Pensioner takes the chair at Lodge of St Andrew

Saturday the 19th November 2016 was the date of the Installation Ceremony for the Lodge of St Andrew No 4056. The Ceremony was quite special as it was the second occasion that the Lodge had the privilege of installing our second Chelsea Pensioner, W Bro Tony Hunter, into the chair. Two other Chelsea Pensioners attended making four in all, and all quite resplendent in their Red Uniforms. The event was well attended and the Provincial Representative, W Bro Richard Barker was suitably impressed.

Collegiate Lodge No 9943

2017 is certainly a year of huge importance for Freemasonry in general with various events organised at both a local and national level to celebrate the Tercentenary.

For Warwickshire Freemasons, May and June will be particularly busy and exciting. On the 20th May our own Provincial Grand Lodge Annual Meeting will take place in the great splendour of the Grand Temple of Freemasons' Hall in London and then on 3rd June a new Lodge will be consecrated; the first in Warwickshire since 2009. It will be quite a few weeks.

University Lodge Coventry and Warwickshire
The Lodge is to be called the Collegiate Lodge, No 9943. The Lodge will form part of the Universities Scheme, 'a pioneering attempt by the United Grand Lodge of England to forge links between well placed, enthusiastic Lodges and the many students and other young people who are seeking to become involved in freemasonry but who may not know where to begin'. This Lodge will be based in Dalecote Masonic Heritage Centre at Coventry to forge links with, students, alumni and workers of Warwick University, Coventry University and Coventry colleges.

The consecration meeting can be attended by existing Master Masons and will take place on Saturday 3rd June, at the Scarman Conference Centre, University of Warwick, Coventry, CV4 7SH. The meeting will open at 11.30am.

The RW Assistant Grand Master and President of the Universities Scheme, Sir David Wooton has agreed to officiate at the Consecration and RW Provincial Grand Master, David Macey will be the Installing Master.

The success of the Universities Scheme has been demonstrated in many Lodges across the country and indeed as part of the scheme, here in Warwickshire, the University of Birmingham Lodge, No 5628 has flourished well in the past few years. The Collegiate Lodge aims to replicate that success and meet the Universities Scheme's objective; helping young people find Freemasonry.

This will be a very special event in the history of Freemasonry in Warwickshire and demand for places to attend will be high so do please support the Consecration, put the date into your diary and book early.

The Founders look forward to sharing the special day with you!
