Following a burglary at Rugby St Cross Hospital, in which computer equipment was stolen from the phlebotomy department, the Warwickshire Masonic Charitable Association has made a donation to help with replacement of stolen computer equipment.   The hospital report at the end of 2017 said, "A burglary at the hospital’s showpiece blood-taking department has resulted in disruption to patients after electronic devices were stolen. The break-in took place over a weekend at the unit, opened two years ago at the hospital after a charity appeal. Electronic items including a laptop and several Galaxy tablets were taken in the raid."

The blood-taking unit was launched in 2015 on the site of the old Mulberry Ward after The Friends of St Cross raised £120,000 for the service, which put the hospital at the forefront of improving phlebotomy care. Following the burglary, for a period, the unit resorted to a manual system instead of the computerised system which had been installed.
