It has become an established custom within the Provincial Grand Directors of Ceremonies Lodge 9620 for their June meeting to include dining with ladies and friends, more recently including visits to different attractions around the Province.
In 2011 the then Master W Bro Peter Wellings arranged for a tour and dinner at the Lord Leycester Hospital in Warwick http://lordleycester.com/; last year his successor W Bro Robin Burkill (who was the first non-founder to become Master) organised a guided tour round the historic Rugby School http://www.rugbyschool.net/history and this year’s Master W Bro John Handley took everyone to the award winning Tudor World in Stratford-upon-Avon www.falstaffexperience.co.uk which was followed by a delightful dinner at the local lodge rooms.
The event was attended by the Provincial Grand Master RW Bro David Macey (an honorary member) and his wife Sandra, who with the other members and guests enjoyed a tour of the wonderful building to experience the horrible world of the Tudors. Through reconstructed sets and multi sensory equipment this showed various aspects of life in Tudor England from Elizabeth 1 to the plague, within the real life home of Shakespeare’s famous comic character John Falstaff.
At the brief lodge meeting prior to the visit, during which the ladies and other guests enjoyed tea and cakes, it was the turn of newly appointed Assistant Provincial Grand Master W Bro Richard Barker to be elected as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year, and he will be installed at the lodge’s meeting at the Clarendon Suites on Friday 13th September 2013.
